About Me

Susanne Quilici

Susanne Quilici is a fine art photographer whose work explores water, movement, light, and transformation.

Her creative journey shifted when she first encountered underwater photography at an art exhibition in Los Angeles. Captivated by the dreamlike suspension of a figure beneath the surface, she was drawn to the freedom and unpredictability of creating in water. What began as curiosity soon became an essential part of her artistic practice.

Working primarily with underwater imagery, flowers, and natural forms, Susanne is less interested in documenting the world exactly as it appears than in discovering what it can become. Flowing fabric, moving water, shifting light, and vibrant botanicals are transformed into images that often feel painterly, abstract, and surreal. At times, she combines multiple photographs to create compositions that exist somewhere between the familiar and the imagined.

Her process is intuitive and spontaneous. Rather than carefully planning an image from beginning to end, she allows movement, chance, and experimentation to guide the work. Water becomes both a medium and a metaphor: fluid, unpredictable, and constantly transforming.

At the heart of Susanne’s photography is a practice of attention. Whether photographing a flower or a figure underwater, she is interested in slowing down long enough to notice beauty that might otherwise go unseen. Her work reflects an ongoing fascination with impermanence, transformation, and the delicate relationship between control and letting go.
